Sri Lanka can feed its huge population. The land is rich, well watered and the sun does not fail. The fruit varieties are as numerous as those of European and tropical vegetables.

The staple food is rice, with curry. But the Sri Lankan curry and rice & curry was not much to do with that of India. This is a rice with a dozen small dishes with flavors.

Here are those found most often: lentil, ladies fingers, sweet potato, Gee Cola, baked beans, banana flower, papadam (sort of fried dough that looks like crackers), freshly grated coconut, and a few pieces of beef, fish or chicken that will give its name to the dish or rice and chicken curry or fish curry … The grated coconut is used to extinguish the fire of chili.

The breakfast served in the English and with eggs, it is in itself a real meal.
